ART 4322/5322 Painting: Art @ Work
Dual focus on studio practice and professional development. Students will be challenged to develop their studio work along with a mock-up residency proposal. We will use the summer 2018 Elsewhere Studios Inspired: Art at Work project as a case study on how artists are able to focus their studio practice to a range of partner organizations. Methods of working will be independent studio time along with think tank workshops, critiques, writing and web-based residency research.
One week field study to Elsewhere Studios, Paonia, CO, to visit with the artists in residence for Inspired: Art @ Work residency. On-site July 24-26
10 students will be arriving with past Elsewhere Studios' resident, and current Professor, Carol Fleuckiger, July 23rd, in the midst of socially-engaged projects for Summer 2018 artists. Carol has helped to select the artists for this project, and is on the planning committee for the project. Advanced level students will come to Paonia for studio practice, and to learn about connecting art practice with partner organizations.
Texas Tech has a focus on arts informing health and medical training, and this is additional cross-sector collaboration that we are excited to be a part of.
