The Fantastic Four

This is the final month of a 4 month residency for fine artists Chelsea Rowe and Amy Katz. View the variety of works inspired by their stay at Elsewhere. Also on display will be the works of Kelsey Courage and Elyse Mische.

Open studio will be from 6 to 7 and artist talks from 7 to 8.

Amy Katz

Amy has been working in oil paints, nature based collage, and ceramics over the past four months and is looking forward to sharing the characters and bodies of work that have come through.

Chelsea Rowe

SOMEWHERE IN TEXAS.

April is my fourth and final month here at Elsewhere, and in this final show I will be presenting my return to my cyclical way of working. I have been working with textile and with geometric patterning to create a few wearable pieces and have used batik dyeing processes to create theatrical backdrops, all of which will combine into a photo series that serve as inspiration for paintings and drawings.

Kelsey Courage

During her time at Elsewhere Studios Kelsey is creating a series of hand bound leather journals and corresponding masks that will be arranged as a wall installation inspired by Plutchik’s theory of the emotion wheel.  Using the technique of Pyrography to burn text into the leather covers and masks she then hand dyes the leather to represent the different emotions.
